Morris Farm Market - From Farmstand to Nationally Known Attraction
Just off Highway 158 in Currituck County, Morris Farm Market has grown from a modest roadside stand into one of the most iconic destinations in Northeast North Carolina. What began in 1982 with Walton and Ginger Morris selling sweet corn from the back of their truck beneath two pecan trees has evolved into a sprawling operation that blends farm-fresh produce, homemade goods, and weekend fun into a uniquely local experience.

Today, Morris Farm Market is one of the largest farm markets in the region. Visitors are welcomed by rows of seasonal fruits and vegetables, shelves lined with jams, jellies, sauces, and pickles, chips, cured meats, and tons of other North Carolina and area produce. The market also features an impressive selection of North Carolina wines, craft beer, and artisan snacks, making it a must-stop for anyone heading to the Outer Banks or simply looking for the best of what Currituck has to offer.
The grounds have grown just as impressively as the offerings. What was once a small produce stand is now a destination with tons of acreage, plenty of parking for cars, RVs, and trailers, and clean, family-friendly amenities like picnic tables, shaded areas, food trucks, and outdoor bars. Even your four-legged family members are welcome to join the fun.

Weekends are when the market truly comes alive. While The Back 40—a large, open-air concert space behind the market—is reserved for ticketed concerts and big events, live music has also become a staple closer to the market itself. Small stages provide the soundtrack for a day of browsing, snacking, and sipping, with rotating musicians adding to the local flavor. You'll find food trucks and businesses lined up to serve everything from some of the Morris Favorites like the Brisket Mac & Cheese, to barbecue and crab cakes to frozen treats and fresh-squeezed lemonade. Beer and wine are available during the day, and there’s plenty of seating to kick back and soak it all in.

Behind the market lies The Back 40, an open-air concert venue that hosts large-scale performances throughout the year. Unlike the smaller music sets near the market, The Back 40 is reserved for major concerts and special events—and in recent years, it’s become a true cultural landmark in the area.
This summer, The Back 40 will welcome a particularly exciting guest: country music star Scotty McCreery will take the stage on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Scotty’s upcoming show is especially meaningful to many in the region. A native of Garner, North Carolina, Scotty first rose to national fame as the 2011 winner of American Idol, becoming the first male and youngest champion at the time. His North Carolina roots run deep, and he’s no stranger to Elizabeth City and the Outer Banks. In fact, Scotty talks about his Summers between Elizabeth City and the OBX, enjoying time with his grandparents and family.
The August concert is expected to draw a large crowd, with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. and the show beginning at 5:30. Tickets are available now through morrisfarmmarket.com, with both general admission and reserved options available. The atmosphere of the Back 40 is truly unlike anything else in our area.
What sets Morris Farm Market apart isn’t just the scale of its offerings—it’s the experience. Whether you’re popping in for a few tomatoes and a watermelon, spending a weekend afternoon listening to local musicians, or attending a headline concert in The Back 40, every visit feels like a celebration of local flavor and community spirit.
Morris Farm Market has stayed true to its family values and agricultural roots while embracing new ideas that keep it fresh, engaging, and full of surprises. It remains a must-stop destination for anyone traveling to or through Currituck County or headed to the Outer Banks.
As the summer unfolds, there’s never been a better time to stop by and see what the Morris family has built—just be prepared to leave with full arms, full bellies, and a full heart.
